A few months back, Adobe changed thier marketing strategy to release Photoshop only on their cloud service and charge $49 a month for it, and include a ton of of other programs with it. Most of those programs were ones that amateur, enthusiast, and beginning professional photographers would never use.
You screamed your bloody heads off in outrage.
Many of the people that do what I do - stand in front of a video camera and talk about photography - defended Adobe or tried to justify the change.
You continued to scream.
I brought Photography Bay blogger Eric Reagan on to the show in a special live cast episode and we talked about this with you guys. I asked you to vocalize your complaints and promised the Adobe was listening to that special episode.
In it, we suggested to Adobe that a special package that included Photoshop only for $10 was a much fairer and practical solution for most of us. Everybody attending said they agreed. (By the way, no one else but yours truly suggested this in the media. Not Mr. K or any of his peeps. Not anyone. No one was making suggestions on a better solution. They were just defending, spinning, and back peddling.)
Guess what... Folks in the know and in charge of releasing sneak peek info ahead of major announcements for Adobe, have said that they are considering a $9.95 a month Photoshop only solution.
On behalf Eric and myself - You're Welcome!
Now the real question is, when and if they will make this decision final. I am sure that this trickle of information that has leaked out is to gauge what the acceptance of the masses will be. If others outside of PhotoTips and Photography Bay fans say what we said a month ago, then I feel positive they will move forward with this solution. It may be a bit premature here to say it, but I am hopeful that I can say we made a difference and influenced a much needed change.
